Lomi Lomi Nui

What is Lomi Lomi Nui?

Lomi Lomi Nui, also known as Hawaiian Temple Massage, is a ritual, holistic bodywork technique, accompanied by Hawaiian music. In this dance-like form of touching, the whole body (except the private parts, which remain covered with a cloth) is treated with plenty of oil.

It employs techniques from the Hawaiian teaching of elements as well as stretching and work on the joints. Soft, slow and dynamic touches are alternated or take place simultaneously (at 4-handed treatments). In the beginning of the ritual, the Lomi practitioner tunes him/herself in to the Lomi treatment and to the person to be treated by "Flying" for a couple of minutes.

The origin of Lomi Lomi Nui is the shamanic healing work of the Ancient Hawaiians (Huna). It was performed in sacred places for healing purposes or as an accompaniment into a new period of life. On such occasions the massage went on continuously for some days.

"Lomi" means "to rub, knead, push", the duplication increases the meaning; "nui" means "big, important, unique".

What are the effects of a Lomi Lomi Nui treatment?

Lomi Lomi Nui is a touch from the heart that occurs every moment anew. The treatment can dissolve old tensions and help to heal wounds from the past in a loving way, in order to freely choose new paths. The person being treated feels accepted just as he/she is and can experience a feeling of "Aloha".

Together with a colleague (you may choose a male or a female) I also give four-handed Lomi Lomi Nui treatments. A "Lomi" is a very special experience! For me it is the "queen" of all forms of massage.
